MagNET, the UK MRI Evaluation Centre, is the sole producer of technical reports on MRI systems for the Centre for Evidence based Purchasing (part of NHS PASA).

MagNET's reports are used as the basis for comparison during UK acceptance testing.

MagNET first performed acceptance tests in 1990. Since then, the team's experience and expertise have continued to grow.

To date, MagNET have performed over 100 acceptance tests accounting for almost 20% of all systems installed in the UK.

The acceptance test involves two days' on-site scanning, the results of which are summarised in a short report.

The report gives an overview of the system's performance compared to the results obtained from the type tests.

The assessment is based on image quality parameters which are indicative of good system performance. A number of unique safety checks are also carried out during the two days MagNET spends on site.
