MRI Safety

acoustic noise

David Price

This research project has been studying the levels of acoustic noise in MRI systems.

The project studied various parameters that affect the amount of noise exposure to the patient, visitors and staff.

Furthermore, the introduction of high field MRI systems with powerful magnetic field gradients has made MRI acoustic noise a serious safety concern.

MagNET has also developed a protocol for the measurement of acoustic noise. This is now adopted as part of our technical evaluations and the data is published in the MagNET's MRI reports.

Site-specific acoustic noise measurement is also available as a separate service - please contact us for more information.

For more information on this research project, please contact David Price.
